Copenhagen - Celtic FC Champions League 2006-12-06

I´m sitting in the train from Hamburg to Hanover. The train stands now over an hour in the middle of nowhere. So, the Deutsche Bahn (German Railway) is wasting my time. I´m using it to write down a few remarks about the trip to Copenhagen. What I should have done instead of visiting the match FC Copenhagen vs. Celtic FC? Drinking expensive beer in the city of Copenhagen? Anyway, the Celtic players were wasting the time of the Celts and received two early goals and the party was over. Celtic was the leader of the group but threw away the chance of winning it. Everybody has seen the match, so let´s talk about something different. Some of us arrived by train on Tuesday. We went to a small pub in the city center, recommended by the Danish St. Pauli supporters. We just settled the second beer when the information came in that the Shebeen concert will take place two hours earlier. So we went to the pub nearby. Shebeen were in a good mood and it was fun to see them again. The funny thing was the meal included in the entrance fee: Irish stew. I was happy to hear that because I was hungry and like a good Irish stew. That dish was so far away from an Irish stew as possible: no lamb, no carrots, no onions, instead some nobody know´s meat in brown gravy with peas and finally some potato. IMHO that was Danish stew. Well, it satisfied my hunger. The best thing in Copenhagen was the atmosphere created by the Copenhagen supporters. The Rude Lions Kobenhavn organised a party in the pub “Stalingrad”. It was fun there. The highlight of the evening was a march with the Celts and Copenhagen supporters to the stadium, not really disturbed by police. In the stadium the choreo of the Copenhagen supporters was formidable: A big TAK (Danish for thanks) with the Danish flag as background over the whole stand. I finished my trip with a visit of the Tivoli, the famous gardens in the centre of Copenhagen. The Tivoli was full with Christmas ambience and merchandising, very lovely. Now, the train is moving and this is the end of the story. timo/genua
